WASHINGTON D.C. METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT'S GAY AND
LESBIAN LIAISON UNIT (GLLU)
The GLLU is staffed by openly gay and lesbian members of
the department and their allies. Supervised by Brett
Parson, an openly gay officer, the GLLU has dedicated
itself to serving the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and
Transgender (GLBT) communities in the Washington
Metropolitan area and the Metropolitan Police
Department. Of course this does include the Montgomery
County area.
In addition to providing 24-hour police response to
members of the GLBT communities, the GLLU also serves as
a representative for the Metropolitan Police Department
at community events, visits gay-owned/operated
businesses, associations, and other groups that seek the
support or assistance of the GLLU. The GLLU also serve
as mentors and peer counselors to members of the GLBT
communities (youth and adult).
